In case you aren’t familiar with the magic that is a passion fruit, this wrinkled, dimpled fruit is full of surprises! The unusual aromatic, jelly-like golden flesh of this tropical fruit is sweet-tart in flavor and filled with edible seeds. Passion Fruit is egg-shaped and has a thick, hard shell that is deeply wrinkled when ripe. Contrary to popular belief, Passion Fruit is named for the bloom of the Passion Fruit flower which is thought to symbolize various parts of the Passion of Christ (such as the crown of thorns and the nails of the crucifixion) and not because of passionate powers it was once believed to contain. Regardless of the origin of the name, we can all agree that our passion runs deep for this unique fruit.

Coconut Yogurt with Passion Fruit and Crunchy Granola

  • 4 ripe passion fruit (wrinkled)
  • 2 cups plain coconut milk yogurt
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup granola
  • 1/4 cup salted pistachios (coarsely chopped, toasted)
  1. Cut each passion fruit in half and scoop the seeds and pulp into a small bowl.

    In another small bowl, stir to combine the yogurt and honey.

    Set the bowls on the counter. Divide half of the yogurt mixture between them. Divide two thirds of the passion fruit between the bowls and top with granola. Spoon the remaining yogurt on top, then add the remaining passion fruit. Sprinkle on nuts and enjoy!
