How to Host the Ultimate Game of Thrones Viewing Party

Freshness is coming.

Winter is long gone in real life (IRL), but the next season of Game of Thrones (GOT) is right around the corner. Will Viserion forever be controlled by the Night King? What will happen now that the wall has come down? We need closure! Everyone is gearing up for the ultimate viewing party to come together and watch the final season unfold.

Are you ready to slay your grocery shopping in preparation for a royal viewing party? The season premier and finale weekends are guaranteed to be a hit, but having a weekly viewing party might be in the cards with all of the unlimited menu ideas people are cooking up … at least that’s what Bran Stark saw in his visions. Some of Melissa’s friends have already started getting inspired in the kitchen.

Queen Daenerys and her dragons Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion offer a delicious treat for their loyal followers this season, with each dragon producing a different fruit; organic, tropical and yellow. Slice into the colorful rinds of these fruits and you’ll find a bright red or white flesh full of tiny edible black seeds. Reminiscent in the flavor of a melon or kiwi, the taste ranges from slightly tart to extremely sweet … just like the Queen’s dragons!

We predict dragon fruit will be the star ingredient for many viewing parties, making its way into a variety of recipes! If you’re new to shopping for this ingredient, the fruit is harvested ripe and ready to eat, so don’t worry about how to select the right one — just toss (not literally) them into your shopping cart and you’re good to go.

This cocktail recipe using dragon fruit is on fire (literally) and would be a hit at any viewing party. If flames and absinthe aren’t your thing, don’t fret, there are plenty of other recipes out there that can showcase this star ingredient; desserts, drinks, salads, spring rolls … Pinterest is sure to inspire a deep dive. For other alcoholic options, wine is always great — we’re sure Tyrion would approve!

Medieval-inspired menus could lean towards meats with the bone-in, small whole birds, whole fish, root vegetables, stone fruits, cheese platters and rustic loaves of bread. Or, review past seasons and see what your favorite characters have been eating. Purple artichokes are in season and are sure to be fan-friendly, recalling a scene from season one, episode six where Daenerys participates in a heart-eating ceremony. Meyer lemons will be in high demand, considering lemon cakes (which Sansa Stark loves) are a mainstay of refined social gatherings. These cakes appear in multiple seasons, so it makes sense they would show up at viewing parties.

Below is the ultimate GOT grocery list, so don’t leave home without it. You could buy everything on this list and pull something off that even the royal family would be pleased with, or, use it as a stepping stone for something that would truly be unique to your own family.

  1. My Top Five:

    3) Zelda Link to the Past
    4) Donkey Kong Country
    5) Yoshi’s Island.
I’m sorry but the arcade ports do not count, no matter how good games they were.
Street Alpha 2, in SNES was a technical marvel and nevertheless it was not a SNES game of its own, but a home conversion of an arcade game.
