Turmeric Lemonade with Blueberries

Refreshing Turmeric Lemonade with Blueberries

This turmeric lemonade recipe with blueberries combines two beloved superfoods. Blueberries are a classic superfood; in fact, they may have been the first fruit to ever even be called a superfood. They contain high levels of antioxidants. Turmeric has been revered for thousands of years in India. It’s also the subject of a lot of research, as companies race to see who can squeeze the most anti-inflammatory compounds out of the root first.

Blueberry Turmeric Lemonade | A delicious, high-antioxidant superfood drink

The elements here come together beautifully. Meyer lemons, sweeter and more floral than their sourer cousins, set up a beautiful base; turmeric adds a bit of earthy bitterness, as well as bright orange color; blueberries, with their generous flavor and sweetness, bring it all together.

This lemonade really makes an impression, so try serving it for a special get-together. If you feel like getting creative, serve it in tall glasses with sugar cane swizzle sticks, garnish with fresh blueberries and turmeric slices. Maybe spike it with something fun. We won’t tell!

Blueberry Turmeric Lemonade

Sweet, floral, earthy, bright…this blueberry turmeric lemonade gives us all the feels.

  • 2 cups meyer lemon juice (from about 12-14 lemons)
  • 2″ piece turmeric (peeled and chopped)
  • 4 cups Cold Water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 pint blueberries
  1. Pour the juice into a blender; add the turmeric and whiz until the turmeric has broken down and the juice is a bright marigold color. Add the water and sugar and blend for a couple of short pulses to help incorporate the sugar.

Add about two-thirds of the blueberries to a pitcher. Use the bottom of a wooden spoon to gently muddle the blueberries. Pour the lemonade from the blender into the pitcher, and stir to make sure the sugar is fully incorporated.

Distribute the remaining blueberries evenly among the glasses you’ll use for serving. Pour in the lemonade and enjoy.
